Thanksgiving in Paris

November 19th a year ago our family was dashing off to Paris.  We had been collecting frequent flyer points for years and we were setting off to see our daughter, Lillian, who was studying in Paris.

So grab a latte and a croissant, chocolate of course,
and enjoy a quick stroll through the streets of Paris and feast your eyes on some of what this beautiful city has to offer in autumn.

Notre Dame

Love this gorgeous piece of architecture leaning against the wall in the "backyard"

of the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Place de la Concorde under a threatening sky, which produced snow flurries a bit later in the day!!  To us southerns snow flurries in
Paris just made the day more magical.

yep... magical!!!
Before heading into Musee Orangerie, I got this shot of Lillian in front of a lovely bookshop.

And then a little stroll into Musee-Orangerie for a burst of fabulous art....

Of course, this is the museum displaying Monet's humongous water lilies but I just love the look on this woman's face.  Check out the eyebrows, the posture...ahhh.

With warmer temperatures a trip to the farmers' market to shop for some lovely vegetables, etc for our dinner.  Obviously, I am always attracted to the flowers and the vegetables piled high look like works of art...they take my breath away.

This is my most favorite museum in the entire world.  Well, my view is probably limited but it is my favorite thus far.  I believe the sculptures, the gardens and the architecture are perfect..in fall or summer.

What is not to love here?

GOD is Good!
This rose is truly magnificent.

Hope you had a great stroll through a few areas of Paris.

If you need a little "something-something" to spruce up your decorations for the holidays, call or email me and we can have a soiree planning and scheming on a Thanksgiving tablescape, your Christmas decorations or fixing up your front porch for you and your guests.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT FALL?

South Gate in the Fall
hyyc 2011
I am so excited about the coming weeks...gathering our immediate family and extended families, celebrating my father-in-law's 90th birthday,  heading to the farm, watching football, sitting by the fire, shooting skeet by the pond, walking on the beach, cooking and cooking away... ALL of these things make me so HAPPY!

What do you like about fall?
I have asked this question to many of my friends, both young and old, and I've received some spectacular responses.  I've added some of my own visuals to my friends' replies... enjoy!

Amy Claire, age two, said "RED! ... and purple."

Another friend told me that seeing the color of the leaves and hearing them crunch under foot was "pure fall bliss"

A very common "favorite fall" answer was, of course, the over all beauty of the leaves changing and autumn color bursting from wildlife on every corner

"The buying, cooking, and eating of apples!" My daughter Lillian loves "apple season"...
The Food Chanel
Another friend said that shopping for root vegetables to make hardy soups & stews for her family was most pleasing...

Me?  I enjoy fall flowers in the breakfast room...

My FAVORITE answer is from my sweet, sweet mother...

The shorter days force you inside for an early dinner and gives me more time to snuggle up and be cozy with my beloved husband (of 66 years!)

HALLOWEEN POST GOBBLED UP!

The Halloween post with the picture of Wonder Woman and the picture of the Lindt Dark Chocolate with a Touch of Sea Salt disappeared.

Honestly, I thought Wonder Woman would have been a better watchdog of the site.  I am  a bit disappointed given her skill set.  Wikipedia describes Wonder Woman as follows:

Known in her homeland as Diana of Themyscira, her powers include superhuman strength, flight ( even though the original Wonder Woman did not have this ability), super-speed, super-stamina, and super-agility."

It just occurred to me that maybe Wonder Woman flew off to find the dark chocolate candy bar with a touch of sea salt.  This is what she is/was hunting and if you haven't eaten too much Halloween candy, I suggest you fly out and get one of these too.

Yummy!
